OK, I have ordered a standard zoom, a 24-70mm f2.8 L series (professional series) mark 2 lens. This is the latest and best such lens and so better suited to the ultra high resolution of Canon’s latest and greatest camera, its mine now Canon, get over it.

For film work I’ll keep the 24-105 f4 L series I have been using over the last few years. It is a great lens for this work, combining very good resolution and a versatile range of focal lengths, ideal for use even with top professional 4K resolution film cameras.

There will be more upgrades to my bag of stills lenses and other lighting kit.

I think some of the new, and utterly stunning, Carl Zeiss prime wides, macros and other specialist lenses and maybe the newest Canon 70-200 f2.8L image stabilised mark 2 telephoto zoom, a fabled lens and very useful for many assignments, will follow. We’ll have to wait and see.
